The Pentagon has initiated a polygraph investigation in response to Elon Musk’s recent visit, as reported by Bloomberg.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s chief of staff, Joe Kasper, has called for an inquiry into an unauthorized disclosure of information related to national security following Musk’s call to penalize officials for disseminating what he deemed as “false information” about his military connections.

During Musk’s visit to the Pentagon to discuss cost-cutting and innovation, concerns arose even before the meeting commenced. The New York Times reported that Musk was expected to receive classified details on US military strategies regarding China in the event of a potential conflict, given his substantial defense contracts and business interests. Musk’s stance on China, including referring to Taiwan as part of the PRC and suggesting its integration into China, has also sparked apprehension.

Despite speculations, US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth refuted any plans to brief Musk at a high-security level. Musk, through his social media platform X, urged legal action against Pentagon officials responsible for leaking what he considered as misinforming details to the press.

In light of these developments, Kasper outlined in an internal memo published on March 21 that the investigation into leaks will promptly commence. The inquiry aims to compile a comprehensive record of unauthorized disclosures within the Department of Defense and propose enhancements to prevent such occurrences in the future.
