In a blistering address at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Accra, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin tore into the ruling NDC government, declaring it a complete failure that has betrayed the trust of Ghanaians. With sharp rhetoric, he accused the NDC of worsening living conditions, mismanaging critical issues, and engaging in political intimidation.

Afenyo-Markin slammed the government for imposing new fuel levies that have driven up pump prices, crushing ordinary citizens. “The NDC’s betrayal is glaring,” he said. “They promised relief but delivered only hardship.” He also ridiculed the administration’s handling of illegal mining, calling its anti-galamsey efforts a sham. “The president calls it a national emergency but refuses to take real action. What kind of leadership is this?”

The Minority Leader didn’t hold back in condemning what he described as the NDC’s attacks on Ghana’s judiciary, particularly the targeting of the Chief Justice. “This is not governance, it’s an assault on our institutions,” he charged. He further alleged that the ruling party was scheming to exploit the country’s mineral resources for political gain, calling its promises of change a “sham.”

Afenyo-Markin also pointed to the recent Ablekuma North by-election rerun, claiming it was marred by violence orchestrated by NDC-linked thugs. “Their tactics are desperate and dangerous,” he said, referencing reported attacks on opposition figures.

Concluding with a direct appeal to voters, Afenyo-Markin declared, “The NDC has failed Ghana at every turn. The people deserve leaders who deliver, not destroy. Ghana deserves better.”
