The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a major disruption in water supply to the Tema Metropolis and several parts of Accra after damage to the raw water transmission pipeline at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant.

In a statement issued Thursday, August 28, 2025, GWL said the incident forced an immediate shutdown of the facility. Engineers are currently carrying out emergency repair works expected to last three days.

Communities affected include Tema Metropolis, Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, and surrounding areas.

The company has advised residents to store enough water while limited supply remains available. It also assured schools, hospitals, and other essential service providers of direct support during the period.

GWL apologized for the inconvenience and pledged to restore normal supply as soon as the repair works are completed.
