ORAL: Alleged Payment made to a Member of Parliament to kill ‘ghost names’ NSS scandal – AG

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has unveiled startling revelations regarding a corruption scandal within the National Service Scheme (NSS). During a press conference held on Monday, March 24, 2025, Dr. Ayine exposed financial transactions involving senior NSS officials, vendors, and private individuals aimed at concealing fraudulent activities within the institution.
According to Dr. Ayine, evidence has surfaced indicating payments made to top NSS executives by vendors, private individuals, and scheme staff, all in efforts to mask illicit practices. Furthermore, in November 2024, the CEO of the NSS, in collaboration with others, allegedly paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to suppress media coverage of the ghost names scandal and to provide public defence for the implicated parties.
The unfolding scandal, involving the insertion of numerous ghost names into the NSS payroll, has triggered additional investigations and potential legal actions. While the MP’s identity remains undisclosed, Dr. Ayine’s disclosures hint at forthcoming revelations in this ongoing saga.
These developments form part of the government’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, signalling a commitment to combat corruption and uphold transparency within public institutions. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving narrative.
