Open Letter to President John Dramani Mahama – Onsy Nkrumah

Dear H.E. John Mahama

I take this opportunity to extend my sincere heartfelt congratulations on your resounding victory and on your successful swearing-in to office of the president of the Republic of Ghana for the second term.

Fellow Ghanaians have expressed trust and belief in your leadership by voting you and NDC into power with the hope that you and your government will drive our country in the right direction and it is my prayer that you seize this opportunity to make it right with our Ghanaian people.

Having said that, I’d like to bring few points to your attention:

NDC is well established in the fourth republic but it is Not a replacement to Nkrumah CPP party as I strongly believe that you know that fact.

NDC Rawlings faction tried their hardest to make their faction and party NDC to swallow and substitute CPP over time but they have failed to do so because CPP was founded on progressive Nkrumaist ideology and principles and CPP has the unique proud history of bringing independence to Ghana and democratically making Ghana a Constitutional Democratic Republic that is constitutionally headed by an elected Ghanaian instead of a British Monarch who was imposed on us, as head of state by a foreign imperial-colonial system.

It was tried even when Nkrumaist Atta Mills was our president and you were his vice president. During that same dispensation the Rawlings faction fought the Nkrumaist faction and Nkrumah sympathisers within NDC. As you are aware there is a considerable Nkrumaist presence in your party.

I’d also like to remind you that your staunch Nkrumiast father Hon E.Mahama was very unhappy when he first learned that you joined NDC instead of joining your father’s own party CPP.

I have the fondest of memories and highest regard of your old boss; our dear late Nkrumiast president Atta Mills of blessed memory who promised some of us to return our CPP’s assets and to ensure a just restitution package to CPP in his second term but unfortunately he did not live long enough to see his second term in office which in effect became your first term in office as president.

So I am hereby urging and reminding you of your party’s promise under late president Atta Mills’ government to please make good and fulfil his promise to us CPP.

God and Ghanaians have blessed you with a second term in office giving you a second chance to do what your late boss or you were unable to do or to achieve in your first term. I pray God help you.

For my part I promise to be the first one to come out in public to thank you on behalf of my dear father Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and on behalf of your dear die-hard Nkrumiast father Hon E. Mahama and on behalf of all their fellow gallant Nkrumiast CPP ministers and comrades of the first republic government of Ghana for honouring president Mills’ promise to return our confiscated party assets and to compensate CPP for the substantial losses our party suffered since 24 February 1966 and up to date.

So please my dear esteemed brother and president don’t disappoint me or disappoint my dear father or your dear father regarding CPP’s assets return and due restitution for which end I can avail myself at short notice to assist in achieving that overdue outcome as soon as possible. They say in Law “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied”. CPP was denied justice for far too long. All Nkrumiasts are looking up to you now to resolve this outstanding injustice.
I believe you will not disappoint any of us.
