The National Democratic Congress candidate for the Ayawaso East by election, Baba Jamal, has pledged to strengthen party unity and pursue inclusive leadership as the constituency prepares for the March 3 poll.

Baba Jamal made the remarks in Accra on Monday, February 23, after receiving a donation from Hajia Amina Adam, his main rival in the party’s parliamentary primaries. He described the gesture as a clear demonstration of solidarity within the party ranks.

According to him, the internal contest is over and the focus must now shift to consolidating support behind a single candidate. He emphasised that the NDC is united in its objective to retain the seat and expressed confidence that the spirit of cooperation shown by former contenders would inspire supporters across the constituency.

He assured party executives and members that, if elected, he would lead with fairness and impartiality. He stressed that there would be no room for division, adding that his priority would be to bring everyone on board in the interest of Ayawaso East.

Baba Jamal further indicated that his campaign would centre on tangible development. He said the goal is to deliver visible progress within the next few years so that residents can clearly point to improvements made under his leadership.

He also expressed appreciation to Hajia Amina Adam and her team for their support and signalled his intention to continue engaging all stakeholders as the by election approaches.

The Ayawaso East contest is expected to attract keen attention, with parties intensifying efforts ahead of the vote.
