MTN Ghana has signed a $2 million sponsorship deal with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), becoming the headline sponsor for all four national teams Black Stars, Black Queens, Black Satellites, and Black Starlets as well as the Elite U-19 Championship. The agreement, announced on August 14, 2025, at MTN House in Accra, runs until August 2027.

MTN CEO Stephen Blewett said the partnership is about more than sports funding, calling it a commitment to national pride, youth empowerment, and gender inclusion. He noted MTN’s long-standing support for Ghanaian football, including over a decade as headline sponsor of the MTN FA Cup and backing for national teams at the FIFA World Cup and AFCON tournaments.

GFA President Kurt Okraku hailed the deal as a timely boost for the teams’ continental and global ambitions. The Black Queens aim to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after winning bronze at the 2024 WAFCON, while the Black Stars are targeting qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The sponsorship will provide financial and logistical support for training, development, and competition preparations, with MTN pledging to give the teams “every possible advantage” to achieve success on the global stage.
