1st July 2025

I take this opportunity on 1st July 2025 to salute and congratulate all fellow Ghanaians on the important occasion of the 65th Anniversary of Ghana’s Republic Day.

I also take this moment to remind fellow citizens that it was the determined, unrelenting struggle and hard work of Ghana’s visionary Founder and First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and his CPP administration, that enabled the majority of Ghanaians to freely and democratically choose through a national referendum for their newly independent homeland, Ghana, to become a sovereign constitutional republic.

Thus, the Republic of Ghana was indeed the democratic, free choice and a monumental achievement of free Ghanaians. It was not imposed upon them by anyone. It is, therefore, only right and proper that every patriotic Ghanaian citizen continues to proudly celebrate and honour this historic day as a public holiday as it had been celebrated annually since 1st July 1960, with the exception of a few brief undemocratic interruptions.

I also take this opportunity to congratulate and express appreciation to President Mahama’s current administration for reinstating the public holidays of Republic Day on 1st July and Founder’s Day on 21st September.

Long Live the Republic of Ghana
Long Live the Pan-African Legacy of Kwame Nkrumah
Long Live the Convention People’s Party

Forward Ever, Backward Never
