Interior Ministry Declares December 5 a Statutory Farmers’ Day Holiday
The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Friday, December 5, will be observed as a statutory public holiday to mark Farmers’ Day.
In a statement signed by Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the Ministry stated that the holiday will be celebrated nationwide in recognition of the invaluable work farmers and fishers do to sustain Ghana’s development, food security, and economic growth.
Farmers’ Day, commemorated annually on the first Friday of December, celebrates the resilience and contributions of Ghana’s agricultural workers. This year’s observance is themed:
“Eat Ghana, Grow Ghana, Secure the Future.”
The Ministry encouraged citizens to observe the holiday in a manner that reflects its national significance and honours the commitment of those in the agricultural sector.
