It may be of interest to note in that video how dignified Ghana still is in Britain today because Osagyefo has laid down a very solid foundation of dignity and respectability for Ghana and Ghanaians at the heart of HM Queen Elizabeth (2nd) and her British Government and the British Establishment in general.
He negotiated skillfully and respectfully for our independence with Minsters of the Crown soon after he became Business Leader of Government of the British Gold Coast Colony under the British Crown Rule. He lobbied all members of the British Parliament and he received more support from the more sympathetic Labour Party members after CPP has won a glorious landslide victory in 1951’s elections.
God willing if I get time in future, I may write a book to chronicle the history of that critical 10 years of checkered journey of Ghana’s independence between founding of CPP in1947 and culminating with Ghana’s independence in1957.
Extremely eventful and difficult decade which birthed Ghana to the world as an independent proud nation as direct result of the hard diligent work and exhausting struggle mainly against the Unpatriotic Party (UP) and other unpatriotic elements at home!
Meaning the main struggle was not actually against the British Crown itself but was more in fact against unpatriotic elements who were loyal to the Crown. So they saw Nkrumah as trouble and a threat against their British Masters’ Rule and against their own greedy elitest comfortable capitalist lifestyle in the British Colony!
Not many Ghanaians would know today that after independence Prime Minister Dr Kwame Nkrumah invested diligently for Ghana by buying several prime properties in Central London to serve as our High Commission (Embassy) and our Ghanaian Consulate and other Ghanaian Attachee’s offices &Diplomatic Residences worth several millions of pounds today!
