Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa Addresses Viral ‘Igbo Kingdom’ Video
Foreign Minister Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa met with Nigerian national Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, who was seen in a viral 2013 interview claiming plans to establish an Igbo kingdom in Ghana. Ihenetu clarified that the video was outdated, expressed regret, and confirmed he never purchased land for such purposes. He apologized to Ghana’s government, traditional leaders, and citizens for the unrest caused.
The minister reiterated Ghana’s commitment to Pan-Africanism and its welcoming stance toward Africans and the diaspora but urged visitors to respect local laws and avoid divisive actions. The government called for calm, emphasizing the strong Ghana-Nigeria friendship and warning against xenophobic reactions.
“Long live our incredibly vibrant Ghana,” the statement concluded.
