The Ministry of Defence says the Board tasked with investigating the recent Z-9 helicopter crash has officially commenced work, with a report expected within 30 days.

In a statement signed by Acting Defence Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Ministry said the Board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator, with membership drawn from the Ghana Air Force, the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau, and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The United States is also providing technical support through visiting investigators from the U.S. Air Force. The Board may invite additional experts and institutions, both local and international, to assist with the process.

According to the statement, a preliminary team that was constituted immediately after the August 6 crash has completed its initial work and submitted its findings to the newly inaugurated Board.

The Defence Ministry emphasized that the Investigation Board has been mandated to complete its assignment within 30 days.
