Felix Kwakye Ofosu Government Wont Provide More Funds for National Cathedral

The Minister for Government Communications, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced that the government will not provide additional funds to complete the National Cathedral, estimating a remaining $400 million in costs. He emphasized that, given current economic challenges and public demand for better infrastructure, such spending is unjustifiable.

While acknowledging the project’s religious importance, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated that churches or private organizations interested in finishing it are free to raise the necessary funds. He also confirmed that the National Cathedral Secretariat no longer exists under the current administration and that any outstanding procurement issues are being reviewed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor. The government is focused on ensuring transparency in how public funds have been used so far. No decision has yet been made about the future of the project site.
