EOCO Grants Shatta Wale GH₵10m Bail Over Tax Compliance Probe
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted popular dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale, bail in the sum of GH₵10 million with strict conditions.
Confirming the development, his media manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah, also known as Sammy Flex, said the musician’s legal and management teams are working around the clock to meet the bail requirements and secure his release by Thursday, August 21, 2025.
“EOCO has set a bail of GH₵10 million with two sureties. I assure you the dancehall king’s management and legal team are working tirelessly to resolve this,” he stated in a video update.
Flex clarified that the case is not linked to broader financial crimes, as some reports suggested, but rather to tax obligations concerning Shatta Wale’s luxury yellow Lamborghini and aspects of his business operations.
The artist was taken into custody on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as part of EOCO’s ongoing investigations into tax compliance. According to his team, he voluntarily presented himself at the EOCO offices, accompanied by his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, to assist investigators.
Shatta Wale’s legal representatives are expected to continue engagement with EOCO as the case proceeds.
