Prince Edward is currently in Ghana for a two-day official visit, aimed at strengthening the evolving partnership between Ghana and the United Kingdom. He made the remarks at a durbar in Accra, where he was warmly received by President John Mahama on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Praise for Ghana’s Culture and Hospitality

The Duke applauded Ghana’s display of culture during the durbar, describing it as “a wonderful durbar and a great treat.”
He said he felt humbled by the warm reception and expressed gratitude for the honor and title bestowed upon him.

Prince Edward also commended the deep and longstanding ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom, noting that the shared history between the two nations continues to influence their cooperation.

“Britain and Ghana have an extraordinary shared history and a shared heritage… I hope we continue our relationship as two countries with mutual respect for our common prosperity and to empower the youth of the future as we go forward,” he said.

Message from King Charles III

The Duke delivered greetings from His Majesty King Charles III, highlighting the special regard the monarch has for Ghana.

“Ghana is a country he knows well, somewhere he’s visited before, and whose membership of the Commonwealth he takes very, very seriously,” he stated.

Return Visit After 2018

Prince Edward noted that his last visit to Ghana was in 2018, and expressed excitement at the opportunity to reconnect, engage with leaders, and learn more about the country during this visit.
