Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has reaffirmed government’s commitment to boosting Ghana’s oil palm industry, describing it as a sector with vast potential to create sustainable jobs and transform rural communities.

During a working visit to the Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) at Adum Abanso in the Western Region, Dr. Forson commended the company’s management, workers, and smallholder farmers for their role in advancing Ghana’s agricultural and industrial development.

He said the plantation stands as a strong example of how strategic investment in economic crops like oil palm can drive large-scale employment and inclusive economic growth.

“Benso Oil Palm Plantation is a perfect example of how investment in oil palm can create thousands of jobs and improve livelihoods,” Dr. Forson said. “The dedication and professionalism I’ve seen here assure me that renewed focus on this sector is worth every effort.”

Dr. Forson disclosed that the government is finalising a comprehensive Oil Palm Plantation Policy aimed at scaling up production, strengthening value chains, and expanding employment opportunities across the country.

He further praised BOPP’s inclusive business model, which integrates smallholder farmers into its value chain, noting that it aligns with the government’s vision of agriculture as the cornerstone of Ghana’s next phase of growth and job creation.
