The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate in the Akwatia by-election, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, says he is certain of winning the seat following what he describes as massive support from residents.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, September 2, Mr. Baidoo noted that the reception he has received across the constituency gives him a clear indication that the outcome will favour the NDC.

“As a politician, you must be able to feel the pulse of the people. I have read the mood, and I can confidently say this election will end in victory for me,” he stated.

Drawing on his experience as a lawyer, Mr. Baidoo acknowledged that politics, like legal proceedings, can sometimes produce unexpected results. However, he maintained that in Akwatia, the signs point strongly to an NDC win.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), which has fielded miner Solomon Kwame Asumadu, is equally optimistic that voters will rally behind their candidate to ensure continuity.

The by-election follows the death of the area’s Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi of the NPP.
