Cloudflare, Comsec host cybersecurity seminar to boost Ghana’s digital resilience
As cyber threats continue to escalate globally, Ghana is stepping up efforts to protect its digital infrastructure, with leading technology firms investing in knowledge sharing and capacity building.
Global connectivity and cybersecurity company Cloudflare, in partnership with Comsec Technology Solutions, has hosted a three-day cybersecurity seminar in Accra aimed at strengthening the country’s cyber resilience.
Strengthening national cyber defence
The seminar brought together industry leaders, government agencies, financial institutions and telecom operators to discuss strategies for protecting Ghana’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
A representative from the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, global technology firms and local industry players in building a secure digital ecosystem.
The initiative reflects growing concerns over rising cyber threats targeting critical sectors, including banking, telecommunications and public services.
Focus on DDoS and emerging threats
Experts from Cloudflare shared insights into the increasing frequency of Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, which are designed to overwhelm and disrupt online services.
They demonstrated modern, automated solutions for protecting websites, APIs and digital platforms from such attacks, emphasising proactive defence strategies.
Local experts from Comsec Technology Solutions complemented these insights with practical, region-specific approaches, including case studies of organisations in Ghana that have strengthened their cybersecurity systems.
Leadership perspectives
Speaking at the event, CEO of Comsec Technology Solutions, Boaz Alon, stressed the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital environment.
He noted that cybersecurity has evolved from a technical concern into a critical pillar of business continuity and national trust.
Also speaking, Account Executive at Cloudflare, Graham Turnbull, said the company’s goal is to build a secure and reliable internet by investing in local infrastructure and partnerships.
He highlighted Cloudflare’s network presence in Accra as a key step in improving internet speed, reliability and protection against sophisticated cyber threats.
Sector-focused training
The seminar featured specialised sessions tailored to critical sectors, including:
- Financial systems protection, focusing on securing banking platforms and transaction data
- Government and public services, addressing the protection of sensitive national data and ensuring service continuity
These sessions aimed to equip organisations with the tools needed to maintain operational resilience in a high-risk digital environment.
Long-term commitment to Ghana
The collaboration between Cloudflare and Comsec Technology Solutions underscores a long-term commitment to supporting Ghana’s digital transformation with advanced cybersecurity solutions.
