The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance works scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2026, which will temporarily disrupt electricity supply in several communities across six operational regions.

According to advisories issued by ECG, the coordinated maintenance is aimed at upgrading infrastructure, improving service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national power grid.

All the outages are expected to begin at 9:00 am, although restoration times will vary depending on the location and scope of the engineering work being carried out.

Eastern Region

Maintenance will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Affected areas:
Kwabeng Township and surrounding communities.

Residents in the area should prepare for a six-hour power interruption while engineers carry out the upgrade works.

Accra East Region

Maintenance will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Affected areas include:
Asiedu Nketia, Gravel Pit, Lakeside Estate Community 15, New Legon, UPSA Hostel, Trinity, Mempeasem and surrounding communities.

Students and residents within the university corridor are expected to be among those affected.

Accra West Region

Maintenance will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Affected areas include:
Mandela, SCC, Sunny Coast, Korkordjor, Kinshasha, Doblo, Hebron, Medie, Sapeiman, Satellite, Opah, Nsakina, Ga-Odumase, Peace Village, Ghana Water, Cannary and Adoagyiri Zongo, together with nearby communities.

Tema Region

Maintenance will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Affected areas:
Lashibi, Community 19 Annex, Klagon, Old Ningo, New Ningo and surrounding localities.

Residents in these rapidly growing residential areas are advised to plan ahead for the temporary outage.

Western Region

The Western Region will experience the largest number of affected communities with two separate maintenance exercises scheduled.

First exercise

Time: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Affected areas include:
Abotareye, Hiawa, Nkakaa, Manso Amenfi, Akyekyere, Bonuama, Suroso, Asankragwa, Mota, Kwesi Bokoro, Aboi Nkwata, Dunkwa, Enhie, Samreboi, M-T-N, Moseaso, Asakra Breman, Odumasi, Kwabeng, Asankra Saa, Agona Amenfi, Jedua Kesse, Agona Camp and Dominasi.

Second exercise

Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon

Affected areas include:
Kokorom, Ahenkofikrom, Naval Base, Adiembra, Kweikuma, Bakaekyir, Essaman, Nkontonpo, Effiakuma, Sekondi Prisons, Diabene, Nkroful, Kansaworodu, Ntankorful, Anaji, BU, Fijai, Tanokrom, TTU, New Site, Tadisco, Bankyease, Adu, Kwesimintsim, Airport Ridge, Kokompe, New Amanful, Apowa, Kejebir, Mphohor, Dominase, Benso, Adum Banso, Whindo, Assakae, Beposo, Seko and Shama.

ECG apologises to customers

The Electricity Company of Ghana apologised for the inconvenience caused to homes, businesses and institutions, but emphasised that the maintenance works are necessary to ensure long-term reliability of the power supply.

The company urged customers in affected communities to make adequate preparations ahead of the planned outages.

  1. why must every maintenance by ECG means a large power outage? where are all the options to keep customers on supply while a section or an equipment is taken out for maintenance or fault? This doesn’t make any proper network operations management.
