US Vice-President Kamala Harris Promotes LGBTQ+ in Ghana
US vice-president Kamala Harris sparked huge controversy in Ghana as she and the American media team promotes LGBTQ+ now LGBTQIA2S+ on her historic visit to Ghana. Kamala Harris unequivocally stated US’ disposition on the subject matter when asked by one Newyork Times journalist. It seems the question is staged to create debate on the matter.
The president of the republic of Ghana seems undivided when he responded to the question. However, he made a statement which seem to suggest he will not rectify the bill when passed by the parliament of Ghana. The speaker of parliament of Ghana made remarks to the public and it points to the fact that he is not pleased with vice-president Kamala Harris and H.E president Nana Akufo-Addo. On a different note, the vice-president Kamala Harris hinted that the Whitehouse and the US government has decided to institute in Ghana an American as a resident advisor – The Hot Seat of NSG News see this as a resident taskmaster interfering in the affairs of a sovereign state.
The Hot Seat questioned the fact that, Ghana has several issues from economic through developmental to infrastructural deficit yet these pressing issues are not making the headlines of the historic visit of the first lady vice-president of the United States of America and one can only wonder why? Meanwhile, the “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights & Ghanaian Family Values Bill” which is nicknamed “The Ghanaian anti-LGBTQ Bill” is still passing through parliament. At the moment, it is not clear what will be,taking into consideration all the forces and interested parties at play – pressure from the US government, the undecided president of Ghana, the cultural/traditional Values of Ghana, the MP honourable Sam George, the unperturbed members of parliament and the speaker of Parliament. God bless mother Ghana and long live the fourth republic.
