President Mahama Commends Outgoing Chinese Ambassador, Reaffirms Strong Ghana–China Relations
President John Dramani Mahama has praised the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Ambassador Tong, for his dedicated service and contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and China.
Speaking at a farewell engagement, President Mahama described Ambassador Tong as more than a diplomat, noting that he had been a friend to Ghana during his tenure. He reaffirmed that relations between the two countries remain strong and productive.

The President expressed gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for China’s support in Ghana’s debt restructuring efforts and for its continued role in the country’s development. He highlighted China’s provision of a $30 million grant for the Aflao Market Project and another $30 million grant for the construction of a new Science and Technology University in Damango.
President Mahama concluded by commending Ambassador Tong for deepening Ghana–China relations and advancing cooperation between the two nations during his time in office.
