‘Put Unity Above Ambition’ – Ken Agyapong Appeals to NPP Faithful
New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has appealed for peace, unity and prayer as the party prepares for its presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Mr Agyapong made the call while addressing worshippers at the Ken’s National Praise 2026 event held on Friday, January 2. He was emphatic that the gathering was a thanksgiving service and not a political rally, stressing that its purpose was to express gratitude to God for His protection and mercy over Ghana despite the challenges of the past year.
He urged Ghanaians, particularly members of the NPP, to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the primaries, warning against actions that could breed violence, bitterness or division within the party.
According to him, leadership is divinely ordained and should be pursued in an atmosphere of unity and mutual respect rather than tension and hostility. He noted that political competition should not come at the expense of national cohesion or party solidarity.
Mr Agyapong further stressed that irrespective of the outcome of the primaries, the unity of the NPP and the stability of the country must remain the overriding priority. He encouraged party supporters to place the collective interest above individual ambitions.
He added that moments of praise and thanksgiving provide an opportunity for reflection and renewal, helping to strengthen faith and inspire hope for a better future for both the party and the nation.
