The Gulkpe Naa, Alhaj Alhassan Abdullai, has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team for its role in improving security in the Tamale Metropolis.

The commendation followed a courtesy call by the team, led by DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil, on the chief and his elders at the Gulkpe Palace, where discussions focused on recent security developments and crime prevention efforts in the area.

Traditional authorities noted a marked decline in criminal activities, including armed robbery, rape and attacks on mobile money operators, attributing the improvement to intensified patrols and targeted operations by the team, particularly against drug-related offences.

In recognition of the team’s dedication and professionalism, the Gulkpe Naa and his elders donated a bull and two 50-kilogramme bags of rice to support the officers and acknowledge their sacrifices in maintaining peace.

DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil assured the chief that security operations would remain heightened, adding that patrols would continue uninterrupted through January 1, 2026, to ensure public safety during the New Year period.
