Asiedu Nketia: NDC Will End ‘Protocol’ Recruitment in Security Services
National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has declared that a future NDC government will abolish politically influenced recruitment into Ghana’s security services.
Speaking during his thank-you tour in the Akatsi North constituency on Thursday, October 16, 2025, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said the party is committed to introducing a transparent, merit-based system that prioritises competence and qualifications over political connections.
He explained that the new system will ensure fairness and professionalism in all security sector recruitments, while also reflecting Ghana’s regional balance and diversity.
“We will make sure that our security services are properly balanced, even regionally,” he said. “We are departing from a system where people are recruited based on their surnames or political affiliations. Recruitment will be based purely on merit.”
Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasised that such reforms will rebuild public trust, ensure equal opportunity for all qualified citizens, and create a professional security force loyal to the state rather than to political parties.
He added that the NDC believes a credible and transparent recruitment process is essential to national stability, fairness, and confidence in Ghana’s security institutions.
