Bawumia’s Camp Cautious Despite Positive Poll
Kwesi Botchwey Jnr, aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, says the campaign team will not be complacent despite a new poll that places him ahead in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race.
The Global Info Analytics survey, released on August 21, 2025, tipped Dr. Bawumia as the frontrunner with 52 percent support among NPP delegates. His closest contender, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, secured 17 percent.
Welcoming the findings, Botchwey Jnr stressed that the team sees the poll as positive feedback rather than a reason to relax.
“We’re not flattered or swollen-headed by this poll by Musah Dankwa and Global Info Analytics. We believe it’s a call to action… it means we have to work harder to increase the gap,” he said.
Other candidates in the race received lower levels of support. Dr. Bryan Acheampong polled 3 percent, followed by former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum with 1 percent. Former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo each recorded less than 1 percent.
