A group calling itself the NPP Positive Wing in the Western and Western North regions has disputed former Tarkwa-Nsuaem MP George Mireku Duker’s denial of having presidential ambitions.

Mr Duker, a former Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, recently dismissed media reports on the matter as false and damaging to his integrity and party unity. He insisted he had “never” expressed such intentions.

The NPP Positive Wing, however, claims a widely circulated audio recording proves otherwise, alleging Mr Duker had told party executives after the 2024 elections that reclaiming his parliamentary seat was part of a plan to run for president. The recording was reportedly made by NPP member Kwaku Adjei (Tebua), who has offered to authenticate it.

The group also criticised Mr Duker for comments in the audio they described as disrespectful to former presidents, senior party figures, and his predecessor Hon. Gifty Kusi, and accused him of sowing divisions during his tenure as MP.

Mr Duker has urged the public to disregard the reports, stating he remains committed to supporting the NPP’s leadership ahead of the 2028 elections. He currently serves as Dr Bawumia’s campaign coordinator for the Western Region, a role that has faced opposition from some party members.
