Ghana Prepares for ICT Week with Spotlight on E-Commerce Security
Ghana’s National Information Technology Agency (NITA) is putting online trust and consumer safety at the heart of this year’s National ICT Week, as the country deepens its shift toward a digital-first economy.
Set for August 25 to 28, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre, the event will gather industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss how to make digital trade safer and more reliable for everyone.
“This year is about giving people confidence when they shop, pay, or do business online,” said Ernestina Atsutse, NITA’s Manager for Business Services. “We want the digital space to be one where both buyers and sellers feel protected.”
Florence Adzayao, Head of Corporate Affairs at NITA, noted that too many consumers still have negative experiences when buying online. “It’s not just about the wrong item arriving it’s also about knowing where to go when things go wrong. That’s why we’re introducing stronger measures to ensure fairness and accountability,” she explained.
NITA also highlighted progress in nationwide connectivity and digital skills development through initiatives like the Eastern Corridor Fibre Project, Girls in ICT, and One Million Coders. Technical Services Manager, Emmanuel Ampofo, stressed that these programmes aim to ensure no community is left out of the digital transformation.
The four-day celebration will feature discussions on e-commerce, payment systems, logistics, and data management, as well as the launch of the African PKI Consortium, a major step toward improving cybersecurity in cross-border trade.
