The Ghana Armed Forces Council has convened an emergency meeting in response to the deadly military helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025, at Sikaman in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region.

The meeting, chaired by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, brought together senior military and government officials to review preliminary reports on the incident and to deliberate on broader operational and safety matters affecting the Armed Forces.

A statement issued by the Office of the Vice President reaffirmed the Council’s solidarity with the victims’ families and colleagues, describing the crash as a “painful loss” to the nation and the Armed Forces. “The Council stands united with our compatriots in this time of grief,” the statement read.

Following the meeting, the Vice President, together with other officials, visited the residence of Dr. Omane Boamah to offer condolences and moral support to his family. The visit formed part of the government’s broader effort to extend direct comfort to those personally affected by the tragedy.

The August 6 crash, which claimed multiple lives, involved a Ghana Armed Forces helicopter reportedly en route to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP). Investigations into the cause of the crash are still ongoing, with weather conditions and mechanical factors both under consideration.
