Ghana’s Voice at GPMMN Conference 2025: Dr Joyce Manyo on Political Branding
Ghana’s Dr Joyce Manyo will represent the nation as a keynote speaker at the prestigious Global Political Marketing and Management Network (GPMMN) Conference. She will participate in a high-profile panel titled “Branding Our Political Leaders – What Do the Public Really Want Now?”, contributing Ghana’s unique perspectives to the global discussion.
The session will be chaired by Professor Jamie Gillies and will explore whether traditional political branding theories still apply in today’s volatile political environment. With elections, leadership crises, and public distrust affecting governments worldwide, the panel will debate whether the current political branding playbook should be re-written.
Dr Manyo, a lecturer at the University of Media, Arts, and Communication in Ghana, specializes in political branding strategies in Ghana and the UK. Her research focuses on voter behaviour, policy communication, and designing political brand promises for developing democracies.
She will be joined by a distinguished panel of international experts:
- Associate Professor Chris Pich (University of Nottingham, UK)
- Dr Emilie Foster (University of Carleton, Canada)
- Professor Ken Cosgrove (University of Suffolk, USA)
The discussion will cover key issues such as leader charisma, authenticity, gender and branding, social media influence, emotional voter engagement, youth perspectives, short-termism in politics, party vs. leader branding, the effects of poor polling, and the impact of extraordinary events like pandemics and political violence.
Dr Manyo’s participation highlights Ghana’s growing influence in global conversations about leadership branding and voter engagement strategies.
