Members of the Minority in Ghana’s Parliament walked out ahead of the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, refusing to take part in the session.

Frank Annor-Dompreh, the Minority Chief Whip, confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus would not be present for the Finance Minister’s address, citing recent electoral disturbances as the basis for their protest.

Their decision was largely influenced by violent incidents during the recent re-run of the Ablekuma North elections, which the Minority described as a serious threat to Ghana’s democratic stability. They accused the government of turning a blind eye to these developments and failing to safeguard the integrity of the country’s electoral process.

Nonetheless, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson proceeded with the budget presentation, stating that Ghana’s international credibility was being restored through sound economic management.
