Bawumia Vows Justice for Ablekuma North Violence: “NPP Will Not Forget”
Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has issued a stern warning that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will ensure those responsible for the violent disruptions during the Ablekuma North by-election rerun face justice even if it takes years.
Addressing party supporters at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Accra, Bawumia condemned the chaos that marred the electoral exercise, which saw clashes, attacks on NPP officials, and assaults on journalists. He directly challenged President John Mahama to take immediate action against the perpetrators, declaring, “If this government fails to act, the next NPP administration will deliver justice when we return to power in 2029.”
“The elephant never forgets,” Bawumia emphasized, invoking the NPP’s symbol. “No matter how long it takes, we will hold these criminals accountable.”
The controversial rerun, ordered by the Electoral Commission in 19 polling stations after disputes in the 2024 parliamentary election, was overshadowed by widespread reports of intimidation and violence. The NPP has accused its political rivals of orchestrating the unrest an allegation that has further inflamed tensions between the two major parties.
Bawumia’s pledge signals a hardening stance from the opposition, framing the next election not just as a political contest but as a reckoning for what the party views as state-tolerated lawlessness. “Ghanaians deserve free and fair elections, not thuggery,” he declared.

But these were the kind of behavior Ghanaians experienced during the Nana Akoufo-Addo led NPP government – of course it is the right of every Ghanaian – Bawumia making it a partisan politics is ten problem – possibly for election favours from the people – politicians have interesting characters.
